Baking: A Personal Hobby

Baking Bread, Making Memories

Whenever my grandpa came to visit us when I was younger, he would always bake bread every Saturday morning. He would wake up early, and when my siblings and I woke up and came into the kitchen, he would let us all help knead the bread dough and braid the dough for proofing. I remember how amazing the house smelled with the aroma of fresh-baked bread. From a young age, I have loved baking, which I can blame on my grandpa. My grandpa has since passed away, but my love of baking has only grown stronger. I like to bake for many reasons, but one of the major reasons is to help carry on my grandpa's legacy.

What I Like to Bake

I like to bake many things. I love making cookies, cakes, and bread. However, I do not have a favorite thing to bake . . . it all depends on my mood and the amount of time I have. I like to make cookies because they generally take a small amount of time and give a delicious reward. Cakes are fun to make too, especially when made for someone that I care about for a special event. Bread takes a long time, but I feel like it is the most rewarding in the end.

Why Do I Like Baking?

Baking has become one of my favorite hobbies throughout the years. I enjoy the delicious smells that come from baked goods. I also really like the taste (and probably eat too much of what I bake). I find baking to be a big stress relief. When I am able to share what I bake with others, it makes me happy to see them smile and enjoy it. I also like that baking is a learning experience. It is fun to try new recipes, and sometimes they don't work out at all, but I am still able to learn new techniques to improve in my overall skill.
